Nightlife
Luscious Laide snuggles into a curvy stretch of its namesake boulevard, Adelaide. And yes, the name is also a titillating hint as to the theme, overscored at the entrance with a series of nude reliefs. Laide is a sexy lounge, and well endowed with a sense of mischief. Innocent vintage erotica images are softly projected onto one wall; a stripper’s pole (complete with Use at Own Risk warning) sits discreetly to one side. There are cozy canoodling corners and booths, and something called the “throne,” a deco version of an Irish snug. Owners Racquel Youtzy and Sofia Marks put customer comfort at a premium—at the end of the night, they’ll send you safely home with a personal Laide condom, just in case.—Li Robbins
