The good, the bad and the terrible of 2004

By JOANNE KATES

Herewith, the rest of my pet peeves and pronouncements from gastronomical 2004.

...

Worst idea

This has got to be the sex resto. Given that I have often extolled the happy link between food and Eros, one could be forgiven for assuming that I would support the idea of a pornographic restaurant. The owners of Laide miscalculated. Images, both flat and 3-D, of copulation and other assorted sexual acts are everywhere. Old black-and-white porn films are projected on a large screen over the bar . . . while we eat. One hardly knows where to look to rest the eyes. Add exceedingly uncomfortable seating on stools paired with mingy little bar tables, and more’s the pity that the food is very charming.

(Laide Webmaster: But she seemed to like it in her last review... )
